I have been creating my entire life, and it was not until recently that I could properly put into words what exactly it was that captivated me about the world around me. I paint moments in time, but I do not mean literally. With my synesthesia, I am able to feel every moment as if it were a color or a shape. There are certain moments that resonate with my soul on a significant level, and I can never seem to verbalize them properly... and this is why I paint. 𝗜𝗳 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀, 𝘁𝗵a𝗻 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻.

You experience things as you paint, you shuffle through your memories both joyful and painful, you confront your emotions, rehash conversations. Your thoughts play in your mind as if it were a movie. You may find yourself painting too aggressively, or maybe a little too carelessly. The truth is, just like your emotions, anything can change in a moment. And this fragility and impermanence of a moment in time is what truly captivates me.

God created us as intellectual beings with the capacity to build and create things.
“We create because we are made in the image of the Creator. We simply cannot help it. This is why Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. This is why Homer told his stories. This is why Shakespeare penned his dramas. This is why David played the ten-string lyre. This is why children draw and play act and imagine. That is who we are: Children of the Creator. We grasp at sunsets and attempt to paint them. We hear the sound of the ocean and compose sonnets in its honor. We see the autumn swans dance and we dance," Manuel Luz.
