Centino Works

“Centino” is a pseudonym used by Greg Creason for a group of abstract art work that is characterized by flowing brushstrokes and pops of vibrant color. It is the Italian verb meaning “to provide centering”.

Born in 1963 in Flint, Michigan, Greg Creason studied in Grand Rapids Kendall College of Art and Design at Ferris State University, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Illustration.

Starting in the early 1990s, he resided in California, working for twelve years with Thomas Kinkade and Media Arts Group.  Creason was Kinkade’s first apprentice.  He later worked with renowned artist & sculptor, Richard MacDonald, as a studio assistant  in 2004-2005.  In 2009, Creason eventually settled in Monterey, CA to open his own galley on Cannery Row.

It was Creason’s move to New Orleans that would direct the course for the artist he is today. His connection to the thriving and welcoming art scene was immediate and he knew it was permanent.   Creason’s Fine Art Gallery was established by Greg Creason in 2009  at their former location at 831 Royal Street.  As an artist already established in California but new to the New Orleans art scene after Hurricane Katrina, Creason saw a prime opportunity to emerge onto the New Orleans’ developing art scene.  After a few years at 831 Royal Street, the gallery moved to the 532 Royal Street and remained there for almost 4 years. During those years, Creason’s Fine Art Gallery has introduced artists to New Orleans such as Darrell George, Jason Griego, Karen Luke, Tim Church, Justin Yanke, Geraldine Arata, and Fannie Bilodeaux. Additionally, established New Orleans artists Tracy Jarmon, Steve Martin, Aaron Reichert, Kathleen Whitehurst, Ben Hamburger and Ralph Richards were regularly featured.

Creason’s Fine Art Gallery moved to its current location at 831 Chartres Street in 2015. The move to our Chartres Street location allowed for a more grand display space and a working studio for artist, Greg Creason/Centino.

In August of 2019, Creason’s Fine Art Gallery opened their flagship location at 829 Chartres. The flagship gallery features the artwork of Greg Creason and glass blowing artist, Nate Nardi. True to his commitment to help emerging artists, the original gallery at 831 Chartres now features the artwork of Payton Trim, Amy Sartin Carlisle, Harry Mayronne, John Swincinski, Marianna Canu, Darrell George, Dianne Georgy Garrett and Geza Brunow.
