Americo Cala was born in Cuzco, Peru. As the son of a notable artist, he began helping his father with his craft at the young age of 3. By age 6, Cala began painting landscapes. His early exposure to the craft helped to develop s strong sense of discipline and commitment to artwork. Cala went on to study at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Lima. He completed his studies in the unusually short period of 5 years. Despite the strong opposition during his studies, he continued to paint landscapes and master his artistic approach. Cala’s works can be found in some of the most important collections in Peru, and have been exhibited at some of the most exclusive galleries.
