Jorge Arcos Works

Jorge Arcos

Born in 1969, in Mexico City, Arcos received direct artistic influence from his father who was a landscape painter. Jorge considered art as a part of himself and his life during his childhood and adolescence. Later on, he perfected his technique by taking classes in drawing, painting, art history, figure drawing, sculting, and engraving. He decided to pursue a career in Fine Art at the Superior School of Art and Advertising in Mexico City. Some years later, he decided to move to Atlanta, Georgia where he focuses on abstract painting, figurative forms, and murals as well. In each new work, Jorge looks out from within as he explores issues of outer and inner development.

In 2005, Arcos had the opportunity to work with kids from elementary, middle, and high school on a project organized by Oxford College, in Covington, Georgia, called “Fiesta del Color”, where he taught and supervised yound apiring artists. The high school students created a mural in their school applying what they learned.

In 2006, Arcos worked on a project with other Latin-American artists for the East Atlanta City Hall mural.

In April 2014, Jorge Arcos was commissioned to create a large-scale mural a for Plaza Fiesta, a Latin-American shopping mall and cultural gathering space in north Atlanta. Jorge painted a colorful abstract and figurative mural, where he integrated Mexican icons and references to its beautiful past, and present and future of Hispanic community in the United States.

Arcos has exhibited work worldwide, in countries such as Germany, Portugal, Spain and the US, and his work is found in private and corporate collections around the world.

Currently, his work is focused on mixed-media abstract painting on canvas and wood.
